The E Card Reader is a device/game for the Gameboy Advance that can scan cards made by wizards of the coast with Olympus Optical Co's dot code technology. The E Card Reader reads cards with games on them that are from systems that were discontinued a long time ago. What is neat about this is that the E Card Reader reads the pokémon cards in the Pokémon E Expedition set and all sets after it. About half of the cards in the set use dot code technology others won't. They have dot code strips on the left side and bottom of the card. The strip on the left holds 2.2K and the Strip on the bottom holds 1.4K. By swiping cards across you can get a game, movie, or even possibility a item for Pokémon RS.

One of the games you can obtain through swiping cards is a game called Machop at work which you get by swiping the Machop, Machoke, and Machamp E Cards. In it you must destroy 100 hundred falling boulders comes from two sides of the canyon. As you go on it gets harder to sucessfully crush the boulders. A is punch up and B is punch forward. You control Machop with the D pad. If you get hit you faint and lose. If you destory 50 or more boulders your machop will evolve into Machoke. If you destory 100 your machop will evolve into Machoke and then into machamp. The game will then say the words cleared. Here is a picture of the mini game:

There are many more mini games, such as a coin flipping game, jukebox, etc.

The E Card Reader covers the game link cable connecter on the gameboy advance but luckily it has one on the top. So you could connect the E Card Reader to the GCN or a Pokémon Game through it's game link cable connector. This opens up the possibility for transferring items through it.

The Pokémon Center in NYC has demonstration versions and demo cards for people to try out the E Card Reader before it comes out. Also if you have your own E Cards you can swipe them across the demo reader and the play the game on it. If there is not a game that is there could be a movie instead. Here is a picture of the demo in the gameboy advance:

The E Card Reader costs $39.95 US and comes with a classic nintendo game.
